IN MEMORIAM
The following members of the CFFCA and their Provincial associations have sadly passed away. Some were builders of the CFFCA at the National level and they were inducted as Life Members. Others have been Provincial Directors or curlers who have competed at the National level.

PETER MacDONALD
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that CFFCA Vice President and Life Member Peter McDonald of Mermaid, PEI passed away February 12, 2025. Peter’s wife, Marilyn and family were by his side.
Peter was a wonderful person and a great friend. He did everything for this Association and will be greatly missed. Peter was also a 5 time PEI Provincial champion. For those who had the privilege, none would ever forget flying Air PEI with Capt. ‘Tigger’ at a Canadian Championship.
He had a long battle with cancer and fought hard.
Rest in Peace Peter.

GORD COLE
We are saddened by the sudden passing of Gord Cole and send our sincere condolences to his wife Pat and family.
Gord was a MFFCA Life Member and the MFFCA President/Director from 1999 to 2003.
Gord competed in the Manitoba Provincial for over 40 years winning the Championship 3 times in 1968, 1977, and 1997.

PAT ROWE
Pat Rowe of Fort Simpson, NWT passed away on April 27, 2024.
Pats was a long time member and great supporter of our association. He served as NWT Director and represented the Territories 10 times at the Canadian Championships.
Our deepest sympathies to Pat’s family.

ROSS DOYLE
Ross Doyle of Truro, NS passed away on October 20, 2023.
Ross was a long time member and great supporter of our association. He was a Life Member of both the CFFCA and the NSFFCA.
Ross was Convenor of our Canadian Championship in both 1988 and 2000. He was a Past President of the NSFFCA and was a longtime Chief of the Truro Volunteer Fire Brigade. Our deepest sympathies to Sylvia and her family.

JOHN SKILLEN
John Skillen of Dryden, Ontario passed away on July 29, 2023.
John represented Northern Ontario at the Nationals in 1982, 1986 & 1988. He was a Life Member of the NOFFCA and a great supporter of the CFFCA.

HOWARD SMITH
Howie Smith of Winnipeg, was one of our founding members and at the time of his passing, the longest serving CFFCA Life Member, Howie passed away January 7, 2023.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Howie’s wife Gwen and their extended families.
Howie participated with Team Manitoba in 1960 at the inaugural Canadian Championship and served on the CFFCA Executive for 12 years, as Vice President from 1960-1968 and President from 1969-1971. He was named a Life Member in 1972 in Victoria, BC. Howie was a huge part of why our organization is still going after 63 years.

JOHN SQUAREBRIGGS
CFFCA Life Member John Squarebriggs from Prince Edward Island passed away April 18, 2021. On behalf of all members of the CFFCA, we send our condolences go out to John’s family and friends.

Morris was an amazing man with a great heart. He will be missed. Morris was a past Director of the Quebec Fire Fighters Curling Association and a 6 time Quebec Champion. Our condolences go out to Anita and the family.

We are sad to announce that Andy Cymbala passed away September 2, 2021. Andy is a past Director of the Alberta Fire Fighters Curling Association and a Past Vice President of the Canadian Fire Fighters Curling Association. Our sympathies go out to Andy’s family and friends.
